In today’s #MeetMajority, get to know Chris McInerney better:
Describe your best day on the campaign trail.
Election night on the Bush-Cheney 2004 campaign. I was in Columbus, Ohio, when we found out we’d won. I’ll never forget that day.
How’d you get your start in politics?
My first job in politics started with an unpaid internship that I probably didn’t deserve at the time, based on my experience. I’ll always be grateful for that opportunity to prove myself.
What is the toughest lesson you’ve learned along the way?
Some campaigns can do everything right and still lose. Campaigns can’t win without making smart decisions and putting in the hard work – but even the smartest, hardest-working campaigns aren’t guaranteed victory.
When are you happiest?
I am happiest with my family: my wonderful, beautiful wife Caia and my son Jack (and my daughter arriving in November!) – and of course, our dog Abe. We’ve made some great memories skiing out west or relaxing at the beach here in Florida.
What food is your home state famous for? What do you miss?
Pizza. Nowhere is the pizza as good as in the New York City Tri-State area.
The pizza might not stack up, but what’s your favorite thing about where you live now?
No snow to shovel.
What’s your favorite song? And what do you do when it comes on in the car?
Thunder Road by Bruce Springsteen. I sing out loud, but not louder than the radio. Couldn’t possibly do it better than Bruce…
Do you consider yourself to have good luck, bad luck or no luck?
No luck. To paraphrase many great thinkers, luck is the byproduct of hard work.
Why Majority Strategies?
